Who We Are

In response to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Catholic Charities, as a ministry of the Archdioceses of Newark, serves the poor and marginalized and advocates for their needs in order to promote the inherent dignity and worth of all people without regard to race, religion, or culture.

What We Do

The volunteer services program provides support and assistance to the programs and services of CCAN by recruiting, matching and supporting appropriate volunteers to the agency.  The program develops enriching placement opportunities for volunteers, whose role is to assist professional staff and have a meaningful impact on the client population served.

The Office of Volunteer Services is responsible for screening and placing interns within CCAN programs.  Our internships allow students to apply classroom knowledge and develop skills.  We also welcome volunteer groups for one-day service projects such as preparing/serving meals, hosting a party for the clients, mural painting, conducting a workshop, general clean-up, and landscaping.

We work to identify a meaningful activity that advances the philanthropic goals of their organization and supports our community.  We organize many off-site service opportunities for schools, community organizations and faith-based groups.
